Choose the saw type, then check the cut.
Circular, jig and reciprocating saws need different blades and setup checks. Narrow the operation before comparing models.
Describe the cut before opening a comparison: material, thickness, path, angle and room around the work. Then shortlist the appropriate saw type and blade using the manufacturer instructions. Tool Drip separates circular, jig and reciprocating saws within its Saws category, so a shared battery platform does not turn one type into an alternative for another.
For a circular-saw shortlist, check cutting depth at the actual angle. Milwaukee 2833-20 lists a 6-1/2 in blade; its manual documents maximum depths of 2-1/4 in at 90° and 1-9/16 in at 45°. Those are different limits on the same saw. Compare the blade diameter and arbor separately, then confirm the blade is intended for the material and operation. Neither a bigger diameter nor a higher no-load speed guarantees a better cut.
If you are researching a jig saw, DCS334B is a T-shank example with four-position orbital action. Keep its blade attachment and operating controls in the shortlist rather than comparing its setting count with a circular saw. For reciprocating-saw research, DCS367B provides a four-position blade clamp. That is a different feature from the jig saw’s orbital action; the matching number four does not make the mechanisms equivalent.
Count the batteries required by the exact saw. Makita XSS02Z uses one supported 18V LXT pack, while XSH06Z uses two supported 18V LXT packs together. Both tool-only records omit batteries and chargers. If you own just one pack, the X2 setup still needs a second supported pack and a charging plan. This distinction belongs in the purchase decision before any manufacturer runtime figure.
Finish by checking supplied equipment and the working arrangement. The 2833-20 package lists a blade, vacuum adapter and wrench; DCS334B lists a jig-saw blade; DCS367B lists the saw alone. An included blade is still a material-specific check. Record work support, required clearance, a permitted blade and any missing collection or guidance accessory with the exact model. These references support a shortlist, without hands-on cut-quality or speed rankings.
